After her recent cross country hock championship win, Katie Sobieraj has been dominating in indoor track this season and has recently made the Hockomock championship.
We asked Katie about how she feels the season is going and she replied:
¨I feel really good about the season so far! I’ve gotten the chance to run a couple of races and try some new events and it’s been really fun¨. Katie says ¨I feel as ready as ever to take on more challenges and run fast! I’m really excited!¨
With Katie’s recent success we asked her what her goals were this season, to which she replied:
¨My main focus this season is the All-State meet. Last year I placed 3rd and 4th in the Indoor and Outdoor State meets respectively and I’m looking on improving upon that this year!¨ She also states that ¨Other than that, I just want to run some fast times and have fun with my team!¨
We also asked Katie what sparked her interest for the sport:
Katie Said ¨I used to be a soccer player and my favorite part of soccer was running up and down the field. I decided to join cross country my freshman year because I had my doubts about soccer happening due to covid and it was by far the best decision I ever made¨. But she also says ¨My mom was also a runner so she influenced that choice a little¨.
Lastly we wanted to know who or what inspires Katie to be her best:
Katie feels ¨My teammates inspire me. We make each other better. Whether it’s having a rough workout and motivating each other between reps, or the pre-race inspirational speeches, or even just seeing the girls give it their all during a hard race and seeing their hard work pay off.¨ Katie also believes ¨It’s nearly impossible not to be inspired by them. I wouldn’t be the runner I am today without them¨.
