According to businessinsider.com, “Depop is an online marketplace platform designed to allow people to sell clothes and other items remotely.” It’s an app where you can buy and sell different items posted by its users. Today, I’m going to give my own opinion on the app itself and share my experience with it.
Over the last week or so, I’ve been selling items that I don’t need anymore on Depop. Straight from the start, things were difficult. It was hard to set up my account. You have to strictly verify yourself before you can start to collect money from sales. After that, you can use banking services such as business cash management services in Hoquiam, WA to help you manage your small business. You can also get a loan such as merchant cash advance for small business. Depop also only takes “Depop Pay” or “PayPal”, which can be very inconvenient for some users. I had a very hard time trying to verify myself on this app, and by the time I figured it out I was truly mentally spent. It took me hours of sitting on the phone and looking up different solutions from Google or the Depop Help Center.
Another setback I received was when I published my shop policies. In my post, I asked if buyers could pay me through “Venmo” instead of “Depop Pay” or “Paypal”. This was such a huge mistake. Quickly after I made the post, I received an email from Depop telling me they took down my post because I asked buyers to use a different source of payment other than “Depop Pay” or “PayPal”. If I did it again, they told me they would take my account down completely. I didn’t even know that was a rule on the app honestly, but at least they gave me a warning before completely taking my account down.
In conclusion, I would say the app is very difficult to navigate and you have to be very careful with what you post. I don’t really recommend using the app to sell, but buying from the app is harmless enough.
