Captain and senior Julia Maclaine, won all three events this week at her track and field meet against canton. She placed first in the high jump, 300 and 4X2. But without all her hard work and help from her coaches, Julia wouldn’t be the star athlete she is.
¨Coming off of the fall season I was in pretty good shape. Our coaches put together a very well-thought-out training plan; It’s running, strength workouts, and working on event-specific form. ¨
With all the hard work she has put it, Julia Is ready to dominate this season and feels her team can go far this season.
Julia states ¨We have tough competition this year but no doubt we can take them on¨.
Julia has confidence going into this season, but without her teammates, Julia wouldn’t have that spark that pushes her to be her best
¨the environment is unbeatable; and we all bring out the best in each other¨ says Julia ¨track is competitive all around and your biggest competitor is yourself, its a sport of constant improvement, the feeling of a PR is unmatched¨.
Track and Field is a big part of Julia’s life and the gratitude she gets from it pushes her to be her best. Julia’s passion for the sport started in middle school.
¨I ran with the Daily’s program in middle school for fun, but in high school it all took off.¨
Julia will always carry the love for track with her wherever she goes, but one of the things that helps her be the best, is the motivation from her grandmother.
¨I am always wearing my grandmothers necklace, if I don’t have it on, its already a bad race.¨
