The boys soccer team is relaxing in victory, after winning the state finals last Saturday. The boys worked hard this season and their efforts have really paid off.
The Division II State Championship title means everything to the OA boys soccer team. This moment was very special for the 8 seniors, not only did they played on the team but they led it to this great victory.
When asking senior captain Hector Bucio what this win means to him he replied with gratitude of how everyone’s hard worked made this happen.
“This win and the season overall is a season I will never forget. All the hard work the team puts in during the off season prepares for great things.”
This team worked unbelievably hard. They prepared year round for those final moments of the championship game. Winning Finals was their goal and they are happy to say they have succeeded.
Bucio believes that “Our team worked so hard all season to get to this point and we wanted it the most. We were so motivated and had the desire of winning”
Fellow teammate and captain, senior, Jake Williams expresses how special this team is. This team is like a family and Jake explains how he’s never been a part of anything like this before.
“We were great friends off the field, but family when we stepped on the field. I have never been a part of a team that worked so hard for one another until this season”
As a senior, Jake will always remember this year and the mark the team left on the OA boys soccer legacy.
“As a senior, winning the state championship means absolutely everything to me. I would like to thank all of the boys that helped make it a reality because us 8 seniors definitely could not have done it alone.”
The boys couldn’t have done anything without head Coach Burrata. When he was specifically asked about the seniors he had nothing but good things to say.
“Hector and Jake were juggernauts on the pitch and Mirray, Mickey, JZ, Fini, Lee and Jackson all made their contributions but it was their ability to bring this team TOGETHER and have the WE mentality vs. ME mentality that made the difference.”
Burrata went deep into how this year’s team really changed the program and talked about all the teams achievements in the community and on the field.
“The Legacy of OA Boys Soccer is evolving and always being rewritten. The on field results are just a part of the Legacy; We have dedicated countless hours of volunteer time to the community.” Lastly Burrata states “This Championship will have a great impact on the boys soccer program’s Legacy! These boys and my coaching staff have earned it. I am ecstatic for the entire program.”
