This past week was crazy for news and media flare ups.On October 2nd in Indonesia, there was a flood of people at a soccer game charging the field, trampling everyone and everything in their way. According to ESPN, this stampede caused 125 people to lose their lives. Around 30 children were among the 125 people to be killed during this event. The death toll is so high because the police used tear gas to try and settle the crowd, but this made everything worse. It caused people to freak out and panic more, inevitably increasing the death toll.
Segwaying into a lighter topic, the internet is at odds with a certain content creator on YouTube. His handle name is known as “Dream”, and with over 30 million subscribers just on Youtube, he seemed to be a pretty big deal. Just this week though, he made the bold decision to finally reveal what he looked like to the world. This choice may have been a huge mistake. The backlash he received, especially on Twitter, was crazy. His replies were flooded with insults and jokes about how he looked. He wasn’t exactly what most people expected, and it caused an uproar on social media.
To conclude our weekly recap, the extensive damage of hurricane Ian in the south. There is plenty of video footage from citizens in Florida of the horrific damage done by this deadly hurricane. Roofs, front porches, and even whole houses being moved by this storm. There were incredible amounts of flooding in some places. According to CNN, some even described the damaged areas as “apocalyptic”. This hurricane ended up damaging so many homes and hurting many people mentally and physically. The storm may physically be done in most places, but the severity of the damage it left is everlasting.
