Editor’s Note: The Olivian will interview a new OA staff member each day for the next week.
Q: What is your role here at Oliver Ames?
A: On paper I am the Athletic Director. My role is to coordinate all aspects of our Athletic Department. I believe my real job is to use the platform of high school sports to provide educational and transformational experiences for the students of Oliver Ames High School.
Q: Who got you to where you are today?
A:I am a BIG believer in putting relationships first. If you can foster positive and healthy relationships, the rest will get figured out. Meaningful relationships and transformative experiences are the secret to life. I am also a big believer in service leadership, but that’s a deep rabbit hole I won’t take you down right now!
Q: What is your favorite fun fact about yourself?
A: I married my high school sweetheart. We started dating on November 3rd. YEARS later our first child was also born on November 3rd. So the “high school experience” is one that I value maybe more than most people.
Q: If you could be any animal what animal would you be and why?
A: A TIGER! Too cliche? Ok ok… A LION. King of the jungle right? Part of a PRIDE, which is a team that relies on each other to achieve success.
Q: Do you have any thoughts on the school in general that you would like to add?
A: High School students… EMBRACE THE STRUGGLE!. It’s inevitable, and it’s a part of life. Also, take a second to realize how lucky we all are to call Oliver Ames home. I mean we have access to everything here. This community is strong. You can go through adversity and still be in a wonderful place at the same time, both can be true.
