Last Saturday night the Lady Tigers became state champions against the Norwood Mustangs in a game that proved to be a barn burner.
The championship game was close the entire time with the scores being 24-21 at half and 58-53 at the whistle. The match was a low scoring game with a strong defensive presence on both sides.
The championship game was far more exciting with the matchup between sophomore star Jasmyn Cooper and Villanova commit Megan Olbrys. Olbrys had a decent 21 points but was under the thumb of Cooper the entire game.
Cooper had a strong presence in the paint which she held on both sides of the floor where she put on an offensive clinic against the ‘Nova commit, scoring 22 points and contesting almost every shot in the interior.
Sarah Hilliard also had no small part to play in the title game with 13 points and a three pointer. She shot consistently throughout the game which aided the Tigers to the victory.
One of the biggest contribution to the game was the ability of the Tigers to make it to the free throw game where the tigers were able to consistently reach the line throughout the game and it was 2 free throws made by team captain Caroline Peper that put the game on ice.
Overall the game was well coached and especially well played, and congratulations to the Girls Basketball team and their tremendous accomplishment.
