Do not not let the humble and down to earth personality of senior Caroline Peper fool you.
The senior, bound for NYU, scored her 1,000th point in her Oliver Ames Basketball career last week against the North Middlesex Patriots. She is only the 10th woman in OA history to hit that mark.
She attributes a great deal of her offensive success to her shot.
“My shot, it has a very quick release, a hand in my face is not enough to make me miss,¨ she says.
It’s clear she’s right after observing her last two games in which she had a combined 47 points to aid her team through the second and third round of the playoffs.
Her game is very comparable to the professional player she idolizes most – Kevin Durant – and who also happens to star in her favorite movie “Thunderstruck.”
However, unlike Durant, she has a great relationship with her team.
In fact, what’s her favorite part of basketball? ¨My team honestly. I love playing with them. It’s so much fun. Playing with them is a big part of why I play.”
Her dedication to her team is admirable and she honestly believes in the team victory instead of individual accomplishments.
¨Honestly it didn’t matter to me. It was more about the win than the 1000 points.¨
The Tigers take on Dracut at 6:30 Friday night at the Nixon Gym in the semi-finals.
