Last Tuesday night the Lady Tigers once again came out swinging with a second round victory over the Foxborough Warriors. The Tigers were in control the entire game with the score being 58 to 41 at the whistle.
The victory over the Warriors can be accredited to several different reasons, most notably Coach Holbrook's offensive plan which is based on good pass first team basketball and strong zone defense.
The Tigers also took advantage of fast break points which helped them create a sizable lead against the Warriors.
Not to count out several impressive individual performances. For example the long range shooting of Kaydance Derby that put the game on ice with 2 minutes left in the fourth. She amassed a total of 13 points, 9 of which were from beyond the arch.
Another player that should be mentioned is Jasmyn Cooper, leading the offense with 22 points. She was a dominating presence in the paint with her great rebounding and her ability to make it to the free throw line. Her great offensive performance helped the team advance to the next round.
Also, team captain Caroline Pepper had an outstanding performance with 17 points, 9 of which were from beyond the arch and she also had a knack of taking advantage of the Warriors defensive in transition where she had 6 points inside the arc.
The efficient play of the Tigers offensive and long range shooting lead the Lady Tigers to a domination over the Warriors. With their exemplary play through the first two rounds of the playoff one can wonder how far they will go.
The Tigers face of against No. 6 seed Dracut at 6:30 p.m. at the Nixon Gym.
