Last Tuesday night at Oliver Ames the boys basketball team swiftly beat the Ludlow Lions 91-37 to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Tigers dominated the entire game from the jump to the 4th quarter.
The Tigers overwhelming victory can be attributed to great passing, phenomenal shooting from beyond the three point line most notable Zach Taglimonte seemed to have a hot hand the entire game with 16 points 9 of which were from threes.
Another major contributor to the game was Curtis Williams with 14 points and he received quite the reactions from the fans and teammates with his putback dunk in the third quarter.
On the other end of the floor OA easily picked through the Lions game plan with big man Ethan Pierre and team captain Drew Baxter causing a combined total of 8 turnovers.
The Tigers even dominated the paint with forwards Curtis Williams, Pierre, and Jake Grimaldi bringing down 15 offensive boards. Sean Friel and Ari Spiliakos led the team with three defensive rebounds. The great rebounding last Tuesday led to multiple fast break points that helped carry OA to victory with the help of points beyond the arch and aggressive team defense. After last night’s display the team should feel very confident in the second round of the playoffs.
