Hello students of OA. As most of you know, the Oliver Ames Musical Department will be putting on the musical Legally Blonde on Friday 3/4, Saturday 3/5, and Sunday 3/6. The times vary for each date. Tickets are $20 and you can purchase them at https://oliverames.getmytix.net/ticketing#list. Get your tickets fast because seats are selling out quickly. The students in the musical have been preparing and working hard for months, so come and cheer them on!!
¨I tried out for the musical because it was something I had always planned on doing once I got to high school,¨ said Tyler DeCouto, who will be playing Elle Woods. ¨I can still remember the first time I saw an OA musical and how awestruck I was.¨ She adds ¨I was seven then and I just remember wanting to be up on that stage like the students then, and now, it is so surreal to be in that position, so I guess that growing up and watching these productions every year naturally lead time to want to audition!¨
When asked how the rehearsals were going, Tyler replied ¨Rehearsals have been very busy with lots of tedious work on everything from scenes to big musical numbers.¨ She continues with ¨This show is a marathon because right when it starts, it does not stop.¨
The members of the musical have been staying after school to prepare until 9 o´clock at night, which is a big commitment. If that is not a reason to see the play, I do not know what is. A lot of the students are stepping out of their comfort zone, and we owe it to them to show our support.
¨It was very out of my comfort zone to join the musical because I’ve never done anything like this before, so it was completely new for me, but I’ve been able to have new experiences and make a lot of new friends,¨ said Senior Brad Parad who will be playing Winthrop in the musical. ¨People should come see the musical because we have worked really hard to put it all together for you all and it’s really entertaining!¨
¨It truly takes a village to get this whole production done, and everyone has been working so hard,¨ said Senior Cayleigh O´Connell who will be playing Leilani this upcoming weekend. ¨There are so many talented people doing amazing things, big characters or small, whether it be the leads to the background dancers/singers, everyone brings their best to the table.¨
If you can make it, it would mean a lot to the cast and crew members who have worked hard to put this musical together. Buy your tickets, its now or never!!
