Almost everyone knows Tiktok. Whether you have the app or not, you have definitely seen a video via a friend or someone posting it on another social media platform. Even business owners did study the tik tok age range. This is for them to find the right marketing strategy and growth hacking techniques to target the right audience they are looking for. Tiktok’s overwhelming success among younger demographics have inspired other platforms to put emphasis on video content as well. Such as Instagram and it’s “Reels” feature. Many have heard about Instagram’s shift of attention away from photo’s and onto videos. Instagram pushes reels onto the feed over photos to keep the attention of the scroller. It rewards it’s creators who use the Reels feature by promoting it to people who don’t follow that account to get more engagement for the profile. In addition, tactics can provide valuable insights and quotes from experts, enhancing the content creators’ ability to craft engaging TikTok videos/reels that resonate with their audience.
It is very apparent that TikTok has a chokehold on their users. Many of us wouldn’t dare to admit how much time we spend on the app daily. It can become extremely addicting, you just can’t stop yourself from scrolling to see what’s next. Its elaborate algorithm makes sure that each video is tailored to the viewer’s interests. Almost every video on your feed is there because it is something that will grab your attention and keep you interested in what you’re watching. And with millions of new videos being posted daily, you will never run out of things to watch.
So, is the app even worth it? If it’s just going to pull you in and make it impossible to get anything else done, do viewers even find the app helpful? Or do they just continue to use it because they’re now addicted? I conducted an anonymous survey to find out. The results are based on answers from 50 participants.
The survey results revealed a nuanced perspective on TikTok’s value. While a majority, 37 respondents, acknowledged some level of benefit from using the app, opinions varied significantly on its overall impact. Interestingly, only one participant felt the app was extremely beneficial without leading to time wastage. Half of the respondents admitted to finding TikTok “somewhat beneficial” despite recognizing it as a time sink. This mixed sentiment underscores the complex relationship users have with the app, balancing between its engaging content and the potential for distraction. In this digital age where content is king, the strategic use of SEO within TikTok’s ecosystem could further elevate the visibility and reach of quality content, aligning with users’ search interests and enhancing the platform’s utility beyond mere entertainment, all you need is help from a SEO company Philadelphia. Participants of the survey were also asked how much time they spend on the app weekly according to their screen time on their phone. This ranges from 0 hours, answered by people who don’t use the app, up to 20 hours. 20 hours on one app per week, that is almost a full day. Some said they still spend over 12 hours on the app weekly even after they put a 1 hour limit on the app. Some didn’t even give a number, but responded with a simple “too much” when asked how much time they spend on Tiktok. There was, of course, a range in between the two extremes of 0 and 20. Some managed to keep their weekly usage as low as 40 minutes, impressive. Other’s had 9 or 10 hours, not bad but not great. I personally spend about 11 hours on Tiktok per week, yikes.
So, is Tiktok beneficial? According to the responses to the survey, the overall answer is yes. Why do people believe it is beneficial after spending almost an entire day on it weekly? I personally believe the answer is because of the plethora of knowledge that can be found on the app. Yes, some of the videos on there are stupid dancing videos or silly dog videos, but there are some videos with a little more substance. There are so many amazing life hacks to help make mundane, time consuming tasks easier. There are people who share financial advice that students aren’t learning in school, but they need to know these things to live in the real world. Other people find interests on the app that change the course of their life.
I personally have had my life changed by the app. I do waste time on Tiktok, but I also have found my passion for clothes through other creators. I had always liked shopping and buying new clothes, but never really thought anything of it. But when I first got on Tiktok, I saw a lot of fashion videos on my “For You Page”. I saw people talking about the behind the scenes of the industry, doing clothing hauls and talking about how to put together outfits. I found these videos so fascinating and became completely obsessed with fashion. I also saw someone talking about running their clothing boutique. She shared packaging videos, buying videos, videos about her storefront, etc. I found these videos to be very interesting and it was something that I saw myself doing. Because of this girl’s videos, I started my own clothing boutique called “Cherry Bomb Boutique”. And, eventually I got to work with the girl who inspired me as she became my social media manager and my business mentor. Before Tikok, I wanted to be a History teacher and go to school in Boston. Through Tiktok I not only found my love for fashion, but I also found out about going to school abroad. It started with a video of a girl discussing her experience as an American completing her education in London. I started to look into it more and found another girl talking about studying Fashion Design at a school in Italy. As I watched more videos, I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. If I hadn’t found Tiktok I wouldn’t be moving to Florence to study Fashion Styling at Polimoda in September while also running my own brand. SEO for divorce lawyers helps firms increase their online visibility and attract clients seeking divorce representation.
Tiktok did change the course of my life, and I’m sure the courses of other lives as well. But it is also important to practice a little self control when it comes the usage of the app. This is a reminder for me and everyone else who feels as though they do waste their time on the platform t spend a little more time doing something even more beneficial than watching cute animal videos.
