Administrators are investigating a swastika drawn onto a bathroom poster on Monday.
Students and parents were informed of the incident in a letter emailed by Principal Cavanaugh Monday evening.
¨I am saddened to inform [the students] that late this afternoon, a swastika and related phrases were found scrawled across a printed poster in a bathroom at Oliver Ames High School,¨she wrote.¨[OA staff] immediately initiated an investigation, contacted the Easton Police Department, and will now be working in full cooperation with that department to address this matter.¨
She ends her letter by expressing how ¨this incident is extremely troubling and inconsistent with the inclusive Core Values of our school and District.¨
Many students were unimpressed with this message because it is not the first time it has happened. Jewish students are sick of being treated as if they are inferior to other students, and they want the school to do something about it this time. Everyone should feel safe at school no matter their religious standpoint.
¨I am so done with being threatened for being who I am, and the hate speech needs to stop because I am disgusted. The fact that this has gone on for years and no one has done anything about it is absolutely unacceptable. They say they are looking into it, but they say this every time and nothing happens.”

On the social media app Instagram, Maya Becker, a student at Oliver Ames states ¨as a Jew, I am tired of this. It happens literally every year, and they say they are going to do something about it, but are they?¨ She adds ¨I do not understand what we have done to anyone, so why are these things happening?¨

When is the hatred of my people going to end, and what did the minority of Jewish students in this school do to anyone?¨
