OA girls soccer had their Senior Night on Monday. They had a sizable and enthusiastic crowd there to cheer them on. They faced off against Sharon and had no problem blowing them out of the water.
The game began with a sort of tribute to injured senior Maisy Hakimdin. She was able to start, with kickoff sending a quick pass her way. The ball was then immediately kicked out of play and Maisy left the field. It was nice to see that she still got to participate in her Senior Night even though she has an injury that has left her unable to play otherwise.
The game then carried on, with many plays being passed up into the corner and crossed in. While there were some good plays early on, there was no goal scored until past the 30th minute. This first goal by OA was the only goal scored in the first half.
Whatever was said by coach Britt Sellmayer at half time instilled some confidence in the girls. The second goal was scored by OA soon after the start of the next half. This really got the ball rolling and more goals quickly followed. By the end of the game the team had scored 3 more goals, making the final score 5-0.
