The Fall dance is coming teasingly close. OA Freshmen have some varying opinions on this special event. Overall, there seems to be at least one universal theme: Everyone is excited about something involving the Fall dance.
Hannah Farber, a freshman, explains, “I think it is just the excitement for the first high school dance for us. I think they [freshmen] are super excited to go out and just see each other and have a good time together”.
Similarly, fellow freshman, Angela Chiereghio tells Daily Olivian, “I am just excited to have a dance after so long”. Like many freshmen, her last dance was in middle school, February of 2019, which feels like forever ago. “I think with older grades it is going to be different because last time, it was just the grade above us. Now it is going to be most of the school”. Angela adds, “ [The middle school dance]… was fun, but I think this one will be more fun…”.
Kian Kabir, one of their classmates, has some contrasting ideology on the dance. He is excited about one particular element of the dance: provided snacks. “I do not know [if I am going]…but it is not a waste because there is food.” The “free food” will be a strong factor in his decision.
Many freshmen have already decided they are going to the dance. Hannah states, “I am going to the dance, and I do know that a lot of my friends are going [too]… some people are super excited for it.” Angela has similar thoughts.
This trend is not cohesive through the whole school. Kian tells Daily Olivian, “I know one [other] person going.”
The attire is another topic of interest surrounding the dance. Hannah describes, “I know a bunch of my friends have already chosen the outfits that they want to wear to the dance.”
Despite the inconsistency on who is going and who is not, everyone seems to find an upside to the dance. Freshmen, whether you are going for the snack table, the clothes, the experience, or the interaction with upper classmen, I hope your Fall Dance is a good one.
