As my time at OA nears its end and I look ahead toward my future, I’d like to thank everyone at Oliver Ames for shaping me into the person I am today. I’ve lived in Easton my whole life, and I can confidently say that every teacher I’ve encountered has been very kind and a great role model. And so, I’d like to personally thank some teachers and faculty members who’ve made a difference in my life throughout the past four years. Starting from past to present:
Mrs. Romans, I am so thankful to have had you as my advisory teacher. You are always very helpful and I know that I could tell you anything. I am going to miss advisories and Best Buddies meetings with you. Thank you for being so kind and caring.
Ms. Schleicher, thank you for advancing my mathematical knowledge, even as I developed my passion for government. You were so encouraging and sociable at every Math Team meeting, and I’m very glad to have gotten to know you over the years.
Mr. Auger, thank you for being a familiar face in the hallways and always being willing to help me with whatever I need. Although you were my teacher several years ago, I have enjoyed getting to know you more over the years. You are a very trustworthy and reliable teacher for many students.
Mrs. Kenney, thank you for inspiring my interest in government by teaching US history so well. You are such an organized and knowledgeable teacher, and out of all the classes I’ve taken, your APUSH class impacted me the most. I genuinely learned so much information about US history that I constantly use in conversations today. I’m so thankful that I had the privilege to learn from you.
Ms. Campbell, thank you for greatly improving my writing and challenging our class to have meaningful discussions. You have the respect of all of your students, and I always enjoy seeing you in the hallways whenever I can. Everyone looks up to you and I am so lucky to have been in your class.
Mr. Huberman, thank you for preparing our class so well for the AP exam and for truly wanting your students to succeed. You are such a nice person and I really benefitted from having you as a teacher. Even during a difficult year, you made sure that we understood the material and showed that you care about our grades.
Ms. Coffman, thank you for making AP Literature both informative and enjoyable. Your positivity and sense of humor always make everyone in class happy. I look forward to class everyday and I appreciate the important topics that we discuss. Your teaching and choice of reading content help to shape students into global citizens who care about others.
Mrs. Palma, thank you for being so kind and for teaching us about different Spanish-speaking countries. Your lessons are always very helpful and you inspire students to explore new cultures. You taught the Spanish language in an enjoyable and encouraging way, and I’m very thankful for that.
Mr. Gillis, thank you for being such a friendly and dedicated teacher. You brighten the days of your students and you made philosophy my favorite class. You always prompted me to pursue my interests and I really enjoy chatting with you whenever I can. I’ll bet you’re the favorite teacher of many students.
Last but not least, Mrs. Smock. Although you were not my teacher, your kindness and positivity never go unnoticed. I am so fortunate to have met you this year, as you always make sure to greet me and begin my day on a happy note. You show all students that you care about them and it makes everyone’s school day better.
In conclusion, I will miss my teachers most, as I depart OA. I would also like to thank both Mr. Paul and Mr. Flanagan for being reliable, genuine, and helpful. Simply greeting Mr. Paul, Mr. Flanagan, or any of my teachers in the hallway puts a smile on my face (even underneath my mask). From the history projects to the challenging math exams to the various school clubs, thank you, OA for making me, me.
