We’ve all wondered how and why the classic 12 oz bottle of Sprite pales in comparison to the crispy, immaculate existence of the famed McDonald’s Sprite. Today, I will test both and get to the bottom of the mystery that is McDonald’s sprite.
As a sprite conesuer myself I have tried it in an almost aggressive amount of forms, ranked below:
#1: McDonald’s Sprite
#2: Can of Sprite (only when cold.)
#3: Sprite popsicle
#4: Any sized bottle
However, I have never been able to put my finger on exactly what elevates the McDonald’s concoction above the rest. Today I will find out. I have purchased a 12 oz Sprite from my local store (shoutout Target) and will be arriving at Mcdonald’s shortly for comparison. However me and everybody reading already know, the McDonald’s Sprite will prevail over the rest.
Nevertheless, the criteria on which we will be evaluating the Sprite are as followed: Flavor, temperature, carbonation, and presentation.
After testing both Sprites I can confidently say that the McDonald’s version does in fact hit different. For carbonation, I give the Mcdonald’s drink a 9/10, the restaurant uses a machine that gives the drink extra carbonation creating the crisp & bubbly sensation we all know and love. For the bottled Sprite I give it a 5/10, it is moderately bubbly at first but eventually becomes flat.
Because the McDonald’s Sprite is infused with more sugar & syrup concentrate than the average bottle I give the flavor a 10/10. The bottled version is much weaker and does not have the same kick to it that the Mcdonald’s version has. For these reasons, I give the bottle version a 4/10.
The bottled Sprite became increasingly warmer as time went on and I was not satisfied with the temperature. The Mcdonalds Sprite of course had perfectly crisp ice and was icy cold throughout the entire drinking expierience. Obviously this aspect is not really a fair match up because Mcdonalds has the ice but nevertheless Mcdonalds reighns supreme with a 10/10 for temperature.
Last but not least I judged the two choices based on presentation. The Mcdonalds was in a plain white branded cup, I love popping the little bubbles on top of the lid, but other than that it was nothing special. I give it a 5/10. The bottle on the other hand had that bright green tint and a fun curvature to it’s shape. The label was colorful and it was see through so I could notice the liquid in the bottle. 7/10.
Overall I can confidently say what we all know to be true, the Mcdonalds Sprite hits different. It soars far above the can or bottle version of the cafenated beverage. The crisp & bubbly sensation of a Mcdonalds Sprite simply can not be beat.
