Once again it’s time to talk about Woody Allen. The once world renowned actor-writer has been out of work for years following an explosive expose written by his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow. This very well made HBO docuseries chronicles the events leading up to the assault and the relationship between Mia Farrow, Woody Allen, and her children.
I loved this docuseries, it tried to give both sides of the story and attempted to handle this delicate situation very gently. Because Allen refused to give a comment or participate in the series they used audible exerts from his 2020 auto biography “Apropose to Nothing” to give his point of view.
The structure of the documentary was chronologically planned out, at the begining Mia Farrow and her now grown children spoke about the great begining of her relationship with Allen. By the end you learn about the horrific allegations against him and feel a sense of betrayal due to the way the show portrayed the relationship at first.
The documentary highlights the way the media and the legal system were detrimental in Dylan Farrow getting justice. Additionally it inspects the ways Allens many films foreshadowed his future crimes and dark proclivities.
I would definitely suggest this series to anybody reading, it is a an extremely eye opening and chilling look into the secrets behind the once great artist, Woody Allen. It also gives a voice to the victim and tells her story in a way it hasn’t been told before. I highly recommend this docuseries, you won’t regret watching.
