Ever heard of chirpin’ tigahs? Most OA upperclassmen have. @OAChirpinTigahs, has gathered a 764 person following on twitter over the last few years, however some students say the authors – who always remain “anonymous” – are missing a step this year.
However, the amount and content of quality has declined over the past year or so. Understandably, of course. Ever since quarantine began, so did the decline because nothing has happened. Even now there are still very limited activities to report on as the amount of games and spectators allowed is still decreased.
Back in early 2020 and years before, they would post senior pictures that were taken together, and it did a nice job of rallying the school and creating a sense of pride. But now, considering that kids can barely play sports together, the only pictures they can put in are yearbook photos. Those don’t exactly show excitement or incite a sense of community.
Again, I’m not shaming the creator of the Twitter page; they are trying the best they can. But maybe they could go slightly outside the sports bubble (for this year at least). We could all use some more entertainment in our lives these days.
Other followers of Chirpin’ Tigahs commented on their page: Grace Simone, senior, saying “It’s gotten really quiet over the past year. There’s not a lot of interaction. They’re still trying to engage,” with fellow senior Derek Milliken adding “The quality of content has gone down tremendously. The intensity is not the same as it once was.”
