The look of smooth silky legs has most people jumping to the same question every time, “Are you wearing tights?”
If you had asked me before quarantine the answer would have almost always been yes however now, not so much. And what made me come to this startling discovery? Snapchat’s a year ago today memories.
As we are entering spring and the time to break out the skirts and dresses is among us I realized this is the first year where I have actually had to start reincorporating these pieces back into my wardrobe. In previous years it didn’t matter whether it was 30 degrees or upwards of 50, you could frequently find me wearing skirts and my not-so-secret weapon had always been tights!
But now, not only can I not be bothered to wear tights I would simply rather wear baggier not so form-fitting clothes.
Personally, I have only one thing to credit for this. You guessed it, quarantine! Coming from someone that would dress up every single day and genuinely enjoy it to living in sweats for a good 8 months transitioning back is taking a tad more willpower than originally expected.
In that transition tights simply didn’t make the cut. The entire process of wearing them is god-awful. The restrictiveness of putting them on and going about your day extremely precautiously to avoid running them only to have to give up two hours in when they eventually snag on something and look like a spider web by the end of the day. The cost of constantly having to make CVS runs to get more. All in all, they’re not worth it.
In fact, just about the only good parts that come with them are the extra layer of warmth they provide, the potential for a little bit of spice if you’re going for a fun color, and of course the shiny soft feel. A year ago if you were to ask me those three things were enough, but now? I think I’ll just hold off on skirts and dresses and stick with my jeans until spring is in full swing.
