Dr. Jill Biden, America’s newest First Lady, is already shaping the ever changing role. Being the first First Lady to keep her day job (as a teacher), she symbolizes both a dynamic First Lady, and a educator having an important role in our government. Aside from working to help teachers and students during the pandemic, Dr. Biden is expected to continue her assistance to military families that she began with former First Lady Michelle Obama. As the mother of Veteran Beau Biden, Jill Biden will bring passion and true care into her endeavours, a quality that we’ve missed in our First Lady.
While memorable First Ladies include Jackie Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Michelle Obama, and more, I’m sure that Jill Biden will renew a type of feminist power to the role. Our President and First Lady have a loving relationship that we can all admire. They respect each other, support each other, and both have empathy for the American people, which, in my opinion, is the greatest quality a politician can possess.
For Valentine’s Day, Jill decorated the White House lawn with cut out hearts, displaying important words like “Healing” and “Strength” to uplift the American people. Today, standing in front of those hearts, she and Joe talked kindly with reporters and played with First Dogs, Champ and Major. Watching clips, it brings me hope. It feels like a new America, a peaceful America, and a welcoming America.
