Patriots victory! With touchdowns by Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, Gunner Olszewski, N’Keal Harry, and Devin McCourty, and interceptions by J.C. Jackson and Chase Winovich, yesterday was our best game of the season. But with this recent boost in morale, where do the Patriots stand? We’re 6-6 and have four more games left: the Rams, the Dolphins, the Bills, and the Jets. Does that give us the potential to become 10-6? Technically yes, but I have to be realistic.
Let’s start with next week’s opponent: the Rams. The Rams are 7-4 and we haven’t played them yet this season. I acknowledge that we may struggle against the better of the LA teams, but I think our newly formed team is often motivated by each other. If we can ride the wave of confidence from last night’s blowout, a win is surely possible. I’m predicting a close game, but a Pats victory. On 12/20, we play Miami. While we beat the Dolphins in week one, they’re currently 8-4 and could prove to be difficult. I’m not sure how this game will unfold, but we should always remain hopeful. Some good news: the Dolphins upcoming schedule looks pretty hard, so that may leave us an opening. On 12/28, we play the Bills, which could likely be our biggest challenge in the coming weeks. The Bills are 8-3, but like the Dolphins, their schedule appears tricky. In contrast to the Bills, the NY Jets are 0-12, yet two weeks ago, we only beat them by three points. I’d like to say this will be the easiest of our next four games, and if by chance this is our last game of the season, I hope it’s a good one.
In conclusion, don’t count us out yet. Win or lose (win!), the Patriots will always be a team to watch.
