It’s that time of year once again: time to see everyone’s Spotify wrapped all over your timeline.
If you don’t know what Spotify wrapped is, it is an annual event that Spotify does where they tell each user their stats for the year. Every year it’s a little bit different but they always have a few of the same things. These consist of the constant top five artists, genres, and songs as well as how many minutes were listened to that year. Spotify also makes a playlist for the top songs from 2020 or whatever year it is along with a playlist of songs a user missed that according to their data they might like.
This year however one of their newest features aside from presenting these stats directly on the app in story format instead of the website is that they added a slide on the story where you can see if you were a top listener for your top artist.
Many people came in top 5%, 1%, 0.5% and in some cases even top 0.01%. However here’s the issue. A lot of people are getting that for their top artist so the question stands, how can we all be top listeners for world-famous artists?
As of now due to Peter Collins, one of Spotify’s spokesmen and his lack of sharing information there’s no way to really know but it can be assumed that the reality of everyone being in their top artist’s top percent of listeners is unlikely.
