As fashion continues to evolve for decades now we’ve asked ourselves a series of questions: “Am I doing too much? Am I doing enough? What do I wear?”
The most casual settings can often become the most difficult to style. Often if you choose to dress up it seems like you stick out like a sore thumb when everyone around you is lounged in sweats or when you do decide against it and opt to dress down it frequently feels like you were the only one that missed the memo to dress up.
As we are societally starting to shift out of quarantine and our homes to go back into the world around us it seems as though dressing down or at least dressing in baggy attire has become the latest fad –even if some of us have been dressing like that since day 1– and it’s being shown off online. But for those working in a corporate setting, they may consider wearing a custom branded corporate uniform.
This type of baggy style branched off of the popularized streetwear style that was once again modernized later last year. The style became especially known with the rise of fame of singer/songwriter Billie Eilish.
Billie has been given heavy credit for bringing back this style however that wasn’t necessarily her intention for dressing the way she does. Although that eccentric style for understandable reasons is not meant for everyone it has bridged the gap between style and sweats in casual settings. Eilish states that the reasoning behind her style comes from the advantage that:
“It kind of gives nobody the opportunity to judge what your body looks like,… I want layers and layers and layers and I want to be mysterious. You don’t know what’s underneath and you don’t know what’s on top.” -Billie Eilish
Of course, as much as underdressing has been and will likely continue to be around, it is not likely that it will replace the current idea of what is considered dressing up in casual settings. However, that does not mean that the right type of dressed-down outfit it cannot be considered fashionable. Whether you overdress or underdress, you can enhance your style with the right accessories like jewelry and watches. Contact a watch service and repair center if you have damaged watches.
