An extremely modified Oliver Ames High School reopened to students last week. There have been modifications to how day-to-day life co-existing inside schools has changed. For Oliver Ames students, the changes are things they will have to learn to adapt to.
As to be expected the most baseline modification is the requirements for all people entering any Easton Public School buildings to be wearing a mask during the entire duration of visiting any building. Neck gaiters are not deemed as an appropriate option in place of masks and anyone wearing them will be asked to put on a traditional mask instead. During C block students have the option to take a 15-minute mask break if they choose to. The health office has been stocked with extra masks in the event that someone misplaced, forgets, or breaks their mask.
OA has chosen to follow a hybrid plan separating the student population into Cohorts A and B based on last names. Mondays and Tuesdays have been deemed Cohort A days, Thursdays and Fridays for Cohort B, and Wednesdays have been left as a remote learning day for all students so the building can be cleaned to minimize the spread between cohorts. While one Cohort is in the building the other cohort is participating in classes remotely through google classroom meets. Due to the splitting up of classes between cohorts, there have been fewer desks placed in classrooms to continue maintaining a safe distance between students inside the classrooms.
In an attempt to maintain social distancing, OA’s hallways and staircases – with the exception of one bigger stairwell – have been made one way so that faculty, students, and visitors are not required to cross paths. Throughout the hallways and stairs, there have been arrows placed on the ground to indicate the direction of traffic in order to take the responsibility of memorizing hallway placements off the shoulders of the OA community members as well as visitors to the school. And finally to be able to limit students together in a small space no more than three individuals are allowed in the bathrooms at one time.
Finally, due to concern regarding the cross-contamination of droplets, the water fountains on all floors have been covered to take an extra step to keep students safe. However, the water bottle refill stations are still available for usage. The water pressure regulator is also being checked for better water pressure in the building. In addition, a heat pump repair service was scheduled to ensure that the building’s hvac system is running at its maximum efficiency. Searching for roofing companies near me.
