In an effort to capture this historic time, the Daily Olivian is checking in on members of the OA community. We pose the same four questions to everyone. Enjoy!
Q:What’s your favorite go-to food during quarantine?
I’ve currently been tinkering with my barbeque recipes. I’ve been working on different pulled chicken recipes, as well as, creating new dry rubs for my steak and burgers. Hopefully, by the time quarantine is over, I’ll be able to share some of my new recipes for friends and family at backyard barbeques.
Q:What are you watching?
I recently just finished the mini-series Waco on Netflix. The six episode series gives an overview of the 1993 siege at Waco by providing background on the Branch Davidians and David Koresh, while also looking at the FBI’s lead negotiator Gary Noesner and his attempts to end the standoff. The siege at Waco is an important historical event, as many modern domestic terrorists used the event as motivation to carry out their acts of violence, including Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma City bombings) and the Columbine High School shooters.
Q: What new things have you tried to cure boredom?
In one of the first weeks of quarantine, I installed a punching bag in my basement. I like to try new workouts using the punching bag and it’s a great way to get in my daily cardio workout.
Q: Do you want to go back to school? Why or why not?
Governor Baker’s decision was a hard one to swallow. While I agree for the safety of everyone it was the right decision, I wish we could have returned to school by the end of the year. I’m still getting used to my virtual classroom, and am trying to create activities that are not only practical, but interesting and thought provoking. Also, having a senior advisory, it will be tough to end our journey together not in person.
