We checked in with teachers last week and asked them about remote learning. This week, we asked some students about their experiences so far.
Hannah Carroll, Junior
I like remote learning because I have a whole week to do my work so it doesn’t put as much stress on me.
Nicole Becerra, Junior
I liked that I get more time during the week to complete the assignments because I can spread out which assignments to complete each day. I don’t like how some assignments are due earlier than other because it prioritized which assignments to do first when I have my own preference.
Ana Dias, Junior
I dislike remote learning because I don’t get to see my friends and teachers and a lot of the work is busywork. I still spend several hours a day doing schoolwork, although it is less than I would be if I was in school. The part I like about remote learning is that there is much less pressure/stress with everything being pass/incomplete and having no exams
Anna Galer, Junior
I am a good student and I enjoy doing work when I think there’s a purpose. This work, however, seems pointless to me. I really feel like most of my teachers are giving me busy work with the exception of a few. When I’m only being given busywork I really struggle to have the motivation to actually do it. I feel like the school is giving us work just to say they’ve given us work. There is no true point if the work is meaningless and just being done to say that they’re giving us work. Pick one. Either give me something meaningful or don’t give me something at all…don’t be in this weird in-between place. And this would be solved if classes could move on with content!

I feel like if we want to avoid becoming like Italy and having the highest death rate then this is what we need to do as a whole. Schooling and education is important, but I think the population is more important to keep a hold of, so I think closing schools longer to avoid big groups and a greater chance of spreading it was the right thing to do.
Anthony Carraggi, Senior
I feel that Remote Learning is not doing enough of a job to teach us nor will it ever. There are many inconsistencies between teachers and the fact that now all non-AP classes have no end goal it seems those classes are almost entirely busy work and no actual learning
Lindsey Mann, Junior
I’d prefer to be in school and learn, but I think that we are making the best of the situation. It’s been hard for teachers to adjust I think and I’ve been getting a lot more work than would be done in a normal school week. It’s hard too cause a lot of the stuff is review and I’d prefer to learn new materials. I also personally learn better from listening to a teacher explain and talk about something which doesn’t really happen with remote learning.
