Mr Goldberg here, in isolation with my family. I’ve been out 2 times in the last 3 weeks, both times to go to Costco and the grocery store. I get so excited each time I go to Costco now you’d think I was going to a concert. The days are filled with spending time with family, adjusting to remote learning and also trying out new things/improving on things I enjoy doing.
We moved to a new home back in December and I am so glad we are in this bigger home compared to our old one, which was lovely but way too small for a family of 4 (and 2 dogs). Walks around the neighborhood and playing in the backyard/driveway on nice days has been great.
First of all, I have played more music in the last few weeks than I have in the last few months. Before and since we moved, nights are spent painting and organizing things, but we’re finally at a point where things have fallen into place. I’ve learned some new tunes and played some live sets and streamed them for family and friends. I’ve also really enjoyed all the artists I love live-streaming their own sets from their homes. Go back and check out Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie’s 14 night stretch of playing tunes…it was great.
I also love cooking and being most places are closed or you need to get takeout, I’ve cooked pretty much every night. One thing I’ve been wanting to learn to do that I finally did was learn to make bread. A cookbook I go to often is “How to Cook Everything Vegetarian” by Mark Bittman. I’m a chef, not a baker, so the thought of tackling this was always intimidating, which is why I haven’t tried it prior to last week. He has a no-knead bread that is easy and comes out perfect (LINK HERE). The bread came out great; I’ve made it a few times!
Take care OA!
