Last Friday a myriad of albums and singles dropped from prominent hip hop artists.
Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake: Deluxe was released a week after the release of his long-awaited album, Eternal Atake, which was his sophomore studio album after his debut of Luv is Rage 2 which was loved by many of his fans. He takes inspiration from his 2016 mixtape L.U.V. vs the World with this deluxe by titling it L.U.V. vs the World 2. One song in particular that stood out to fans was P2 which takes direct interpolation from his 2017 hit, XO Tour Llif3.
Recently incarcerated, YNW Melly, released a remix to his hit song Suicidal, which was popularized by the platform known as TikTok, featuring the recent deceased Juice Wrld. Adding to the new singles list, up-and-coming artists Lil Tecca and Lil Tjay dropped a collaborative single, All Stars.
New faces on the hip-hop scene dropped their debut albums as well, these being Jack Harlow’s Sweet Action and Don Toliver’s Heaven or Hell. Furthermore, these come after Rich the Kid’s third studio album.
More albums were released within the last two weeks, which included, Find the Beat, by Blueface, and Suga by Megan Thee Stallion.
Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino also leaked his latest project, Donald Glover Presents. The actor, producer, rapper, songwriter, has stated that this was his last album and will be retiring his stage name, Donald Glover.
Last Friday saw many new releases after a very busy week in the music industry after weeks of silence from big artists. Earlier last week, Lil Peep re-released an EP, posthumously, Vertigo. As well as Jhene Aiko’s third studio album, Chilombo, was released as well.
This is a very exciting time as hip-hop’s revered 2016 XXL freshman class are reaching their second and third studio albums as well as many promising new faces in the hip-hop scene.
