The Oliver Ames Player of the Week is Abigail Hodges of Girls Indoor Track. Abigail Hodges is the only athlete so far this year to be named an OA Player of the Week for two different sports. She has been participating in winter indoor track and field since freshman year and plans to continue to run track in college.
Over the past weekend, the Oliver Ames Indoor Track and Field participated in the Hockomock Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center. Abigail Hodges ran in two races at the meet, the 1000 meter and the 4×800 meter relay. She had astonishing performances in both of her races, running a 3:09 in the 1000 meter race and receiving a team time of 10:15 in the relay. She took home two gold medals and was the only Oliver Ames runner to win first place in all of her races.
“I’m really proud of all the girls this year that participated in winter track. At Hocks, we finished fourth overall and everyone had really good days. I’m really happy that I was able to win both of my races after 4 years on this team. I credit it to my teammates and coaches who pushed me everyday in practice.”
