1.Team O’Connor (5-0)
Winning the first five games in the season, Team O’Connor will end the season with a winning record, but for now, they remain as the final undefeated team in the league. Team O’Connor has proved time and time again what they can do. In week 3, Team O’Connor scored 82 and in week 4, Team O’Connor handed the Bad Boys the first loss of the season. Next week they will match up against another great team, Team Lerman. This game will most likely be the battle of MVP candidates, Kyle vs Zach. Kyle O’Connor averages around an outstanding number of 17 points per game this season. If Kyle can continue this MVP worthy stat line, Team O’Connor will see a ring in their future.
2. Team K Walsh (4-1)
With week 5 at its conclusion, a team with the power to stop Team O’Connor has emerged. Scoring 92 points in a single Senior Rec game is a dream that all the players wish they could achieve, but Team K Walsh does not dream, the act. Winning by 49 points in week 4, Team K Walsh put up 92 points while only giving up 43 points against Team Burke. The duo of Ahmed Bangura and Liam Walsh seems to be the scariest backcourt in the league. Ahmed is making a case for MVP while Liam Walsh is making an even stronger case for Rookie of the Year. The duo may be intimidating, but the scariest aspect of Team K Wash is their team chemistry. Their deep bench and strong team chemistry combine perfectly to match their fast-paced play style. Defensively, Team K Walsh has let up the least amount of points so far this season. This is definitely not a team you want to see come playoff time.
3. Team J Walsh (3-2)
The defending champs started off the season with a tough loss to K Walsh, just to bounce back week 2 with a 32-point win against Team Hilliard. The commissioner’s team has no problem with scoring. That was evident in their week 3 loss to Team O’Connor when they scored 62 points. However, it seems that the team has solved any problems they had after winning their second-straight game this past week. Coming into the season, Max Anderson looked promising to be, not only the leader of this team, but to be a candidate for MVP. Regardless of this prediction, the unsung hero of Team J Walsh can be found in Matt Biz. Biz has led the defending champs in scoring, and makes a solid case for Most Improved Player of the Year. If Team J Walsh continues to win with Biz putting up monster stat lines, I would not be surprised if his name was brought up in the MVP conversation.
4. Team Campbell (3-2)
After starting the season with three straight wins, it was shocking to hear that the Bad Boys are on a two-game losing streak. Team Campbell’s most impressive game was when they matched up against Team O’Connor in week 4. They knew they had to give it their all against their skilled opponent, especially with Kyle Gramer sidelined with the Coronavirus. Although the Bad Boys lost, they made a statement. Losing by only two points to Team O’Connor proved that they can go toe-to-toe with the best. Connor Cerasuolo proved his worth once again as being a reliable scoring option and Noah welcome proved that he could transfer schools, yet still be back in Easton every single weekend. The Bad Boys proved that they can defend any team and that will be vital for their potential deep playoff push.
5. Team Lerman (4-1)
The fall of Team Lerman has begun. One of the reasons they were ranked so high originally, was due to their potential addition of Harrison Webster. Now without a stable big man, rebounding and paint defending will be hard to find within this team, and to be fair, their games have not been that impressive. Only beating Team Magit by 5 points in week 4 proved that statement. On the other hand, a lot of credit to this team’s impressive record can be given to their coach, Jay Spillane. Spillane has drawn up two game winning plays and has solidified his name in the Coach of the Year race. One of the most important aspects of this offense is Zach Lerman. He leads the league in scoring with an average just over 18 points per game. Their loss to Team Burke was a devastating loss for Team Lerman. It showed that one guy can’t carry a team, and that they will have to come together if they want a real shot at the title.
6. Team MacInnis (2-3)
Now, let’s talk about average. Half way into the season, Team MacInnis has 3 losses and only 2 wins, but they have a positive point differential. For the offense, the stereotypical big man Christian Tropeano pairs perfectly with the average basketball player of Liam Jennings. It’s safe to say this team has the skill to win games with Christian Papasodero running the offense, and that was clear week 4 when they beat Team Hilliard by 20. But key aspects that they are lacking are creativity and flair. Luckily for them, Anthony Hoffman is the right guy for the job. This spark plug coming off the bench has shifted the momentum of the game to his team’s favor more than a few times. Team MacInnis put up a very impressive battle last week, almost taking down Team K Walsh. Team MacInnis has the potential to make it far, we just need to see them get aggressive and take control of their future.
7. Team Burke (2-3)
Under the assumption that Daniel Lopes would be carrying this team all on his own, the future looked grim when the news broke that Lopes was out with an injury. In week 4, they gave up an insane number of 92 points to their opponent, Team K Walsh. The future of Team Burke looked hopeless, but then, something amazing happened. This past week, Team Burke looked stronger than ever, handing Team Lerman their first loss of the season winning 43-36. Led by Michael Creutz and Andrew Rodgers, this team looked my unified and stronger than they ever have. The chemistry of this team is unreal and its vital as it allows everyone to shoot with confidence. Their 3-point shooting ability is almost unmatched by any other team in this league, especially because they have Justin Shapiro on their roster. Team Burke will have to rely on their unity if they want to turn this season around.
8. Team Krowski (1-4)
At first, Team Krowski did not look very promising, but with the recent addition of Tre Stith, this team could go places. Although their record is not the prettiest, their game demonstrates otherwise. In the last three games, they have won once, but lost the other two games by two points each. Losing by one bucket twice shows that the game could have easily been won by Team Krowski. One of those losses came against, arguably, the best team in the league, Team O’Connor. Only losing by two, Team Krowski proved to the rest of the league what they are capable of. Connor Murphy has been great for this team as a reliable scorer and rebounder. Coach Krowski definitely has his work cut out for him if Team Krowski hopes to make a push for a high playoff spot.
9. Team Magit (1-4)
Team Magit is by no means a bad all-around team. Their record may say one thing, but they have a solid team with consistent players from start to finish. They proved that in their first win when they faced off against Team Hilliard this past week. With the recent addition of number #34, they found someone much-need confidence that has been essential to the Bruce Magit offense. Although some chemistry issues have arose with the new addition, ultimately, it has made the team stronger. The off-season addition of Jack Richardson has brought another lethal shooter to this already spaced out offense. Team Magit’s big man, Evan Condon, is still out indefinitely, which means that Ben Whiteside will have to fill the role and prove his worth if Team Magit wants any future success.
10. Team Hilliard (0-5)
We knew Team Hilliard was struggling, but after their loss to Team Magit, I think it is safe to say that Team Hilliard is now the worst team in the league. As Ryan Hilliard’s track skills continue to improve, his basketball skills have started to slowly fade away to a point where he can not carry a team alone. Without a reliable inside scorer like Ryan Hilliard, Team Hilliard will begin to rely on their three point shot and their defense if they want to win. Notable shooters on this team that will need to step up are Sam Becker and Alex Francois. On the defensive end, Matthew Nosalek, Darien Walcott, and Jackson Keller will need to hold down the fort for the second half of the season. Recently, there has been a rumor circulating that coach Ryan Burkett will be parting ways with the organization due to the recent struggles. In the end, Team Hilliard will need to put their personal agendas aside, and work as a team if they want to at least win one game this season.
