A few weeks ago, Netflix released its highly anticipated short series about the notorious ex-Patriot tight end Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was believed to have shot and killed his own best friend and on another occasion, a double homicide of men that accidentally spilled drinks on him in the club. While serving his sentence he committed suicide.
The series tended to have a certain agenda however, mentioning a lot that Aaron supposedly had problems with his sexuality and was closeted his whole life. The series in a way wants us to believe that he had these tendencies with all his anger he had built inside.
The series did in fact mention that Aaron Hernandez had the worst case of CTE to date. Even though he was only 27 years old. In my opinion, CTE should’ve been the main point of this whole series, not the fact that he was believed to be gay. That may have led him to take his own life, but has nothing to do with the three men that are dead supposedly at his hands.
I am not defending Aaron Hernandez in any way, but both cases make absolutely no sense to a sane minded person like you and I. However if you look at it from a point of view that someone with a severe case of CTE, it makes a lot of sense.
Even his own suicide made no sense. Aaron was just found not guilty in one case, and his other case was in the middle of being over turned. His final time in court before he took his own life he was seen smiling and the happiest anyone has seen him in a while. He had called his wife as normal and cool headed anyone can possibly do, and then proceeded to go to his cell and hang himself from the window. He also left very cryptic messages to his wife, daughter, and lawyers.
Aaron Hernandez made a lot of irrational decisions that we still don’t understand to this day. His irrational decisions cost three young men their lives, along with Aaron’s life as well.
I think that Netflix just either should’ve made the series longer or just focused on more aspects of why he did what he did, not who he got into bed with.
