I have bought lunch almost every Friday for the past 2 1/2 years, and every single week I got the exact same thing – a buffalo chicken wrap. But one day, I started wondering if there was something I was missing out on by only sticking to one food. My friends loved other foods like the chicken patty and grilled cheese, and I was curious what they tasted like. So I decided that every single day for a week, I was going to try a different food from the cafeteria, and rank both the main meals and the sides from my least favorite to the best.
Sides:
Number 4- Fries
Even though they are in the lowest position out of the sides, I actually still like the fries. They are flavorful, almost bordering on spicy (although not nearly as bad as my friends made them seem), and are very good. The ones I got were a little bit cold, but that was probably because I had 3rd lunch. Overall, I liked them and would definitely have them again. 7/10
Number 3- Caeser Salad
Again, not actually bad even though it is low on the list. I love a good Caeser Salad, and it went really well with the pasta I got. If I had to change anything, I would’ve added a bit more dressing, but I guess that would’ve defeated the whole purpose of it being good for you. Overall, a great side, and bonus points for being the healthiest thing on the whole list. 8.5/10
Number 2- Tater Tots
These were my favorite out of the sides that actually came with the meal I bought. They’re the perfect temperature (warm, but not hot), were flavorful, and were all around my one of my favorites. 9/10
Number 1- Chocolate Chip Cookies
Alright, I know that this isn’t actually a side because you have to buy it separately. But the school cookies are so good that they deserve a place on this list. I specified the chocolate chip ones because I prefer them over the, also good, M&M cookies. Everyone knows that these cookies are the absolute best so the rating goes without saying. 10/10
Main Meals:
Number 6- Pizza
When I was in middle school, I used to have the pizza almost every time I bought lunch. So maybe it was the bad memories that made me not like the taste of the school’s cheese pizza. It was bland, and by far my least favorite thing that I tried. 3/10
Number 5- Cheeseburger
This wasn’t actually that bad, but the multigrain bun really hurt its ranking. Even though it’s low on the list, I would get it again because I did like it. Average lunch food, but exceeded my expectations. 6/10
Number 4- Grilled Cheese
Another good food that is low on the list, the grilled cheese was better than I expected. My friends realy love the grilled cheese at the school, and even though it wasn’t my favorite, I liked it. There was way too much cheese on it though (I know, cheese is literally in the name, but you can have too much of a good thing), but otherwise, it was great. 7.5/10
Number 3- Chicken, Broccoli, and Ziti Pasta
This was really good, and definitely one of my favorites that I tried for the first time. I don’t think that they serve this everyday like the other foods I’ve reviewed, but they honestly should. The chicken was my least favorite part of the meal, but the broccoli and pasta were very good. The portion sizes on this were very generous too, which was nice because some of the school lunches aren’t very filing. 8.5/10
Number 2- Chicken Patty
I was expecting this to be gross just because of the name. I had never had a chicken patty before, in school or out, so I didn’t have my hopes up high. But it was great. Again, the bun wasn’t the best, but I though that it was better than the cheeseburger’s bun. It was a simple meal, but fantastic in its execution. 9/10
Number 1- Wraps
I have tried almost every lunch that the school serves, but the wrap station is still my favorite. You can choose what you want in it, so that means you like everything that’s inside. They’re not super filling, but I would even get these if I wasn’t in school. The buffalo chicken wrap is the absolute best, but if you want a wrap, get to lunch early, because the lines can get really long. 10/10
