With the regular season over, the OA soccer program has all their attention on the playoffs. For the girls soccer team, captain Abby Hodges plans to continue her impressive regular season into the postseason. Abby Hodges is this weeks OA player of the week.
Playing center back for the girls soccer team, Abby’s main focus is to prevent opposing attackers from scoring on her net. With a final record of 11-4 with 6 shutouts, she has displayed her ability to stop her opponents. Although no stats appear for a defender, if you watch a game, you can see how she steals the ball from opposing strikers with ease. But something even more remarkable, is that she has recorded 8 points from 5 goals and 3 assists, as a defender. Scoring 8 points as a defender is ridiculously impressive. Abby scored one of these goals recently, and in the senior night, she assisted the game winning with a tremendous corner kick.
“For the state tournament, the goal is to break the curse of the first round loss, as we take one game at a time. Even though we’re young, we have become a strong team that others underestimate.”
Appearing on “Hockomock Girls Soccer: Players to Watch in 2019”, it was inevitable for Abby Hodges to be an OA player of the week.
