Best Buddies is an international non-profit organization that provides a safe place for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The best buddies club at school is an excellent opportunity for students who want to be a part of a low commitment, but still a fun club.
Meetings are usually once a month, October 2, being the first meeting. Meetings typically only last about 30 minutes. Best Buddies does a collection of fun activities such as Special Olympics, Buddies Prom, Game Night, and many more! The Buddies Match Party is Oct. 6th if you wish to attend.
The chapter members for the 2019-2020 school year are Caroline Botelho, Ana Dias, Mia Adams, Lindsey Mann, Haley Cuthbert, and Mathew Nikiciuk. Feel free to reach out to them as well if you have any concerns about what the club entails.
When joining buddies, you have two choices; you can either be an associate member, which means you come to meetings and events and participate in the group as a whole, or you can be a peer buddy, which means you build a one-on-one friendship with an assigned buddy. An associate member is an excellent choice for people who are busy and may not have time to commit to the one-on-one time needed with your buddy!
To be a member of Best Buddies, you must sign-up on Best Buddies Online and be a member of their google classroom page. For this information, you can visit Mrs. Romans or Mrs. De La Torre or email them at mromans@easton.k12.ma.us or rdelatorre@easton.k12.ma.us.
