This week’s Oliver Ames Player of the Week is Kyle Sarney who runs for Cross Country. Sarney is a junior, and is currently the number one runner on the varsity team. He has made great contributions to the team’s overall success this season, finishing first in each of their three wins and third in the team’s only loss. Sarney himself ranks sixth out of all varsity runners in the Hockomock. His PR time of 16:26 was set this season in the first meet against Taunton, and in the meet against Mansfield, he edged an opponent who had been competing with him for the entire race. His effort ultimately led Oliver Ames to victory over Mansfield
Oliver Ames has beat Mansfield, Taunton, and Attleboro, and lost to Franklin, putting them in second place in the Hockomock league. Although he is ranked sixth in the Hockomock, Sarney says that there is still “plenty of time to shape up before the championship season,” eyeing personal improvement and higher hopes for the team’s future. OAXC’s next meet is on Tuesday, October 15th, where they will face the 3-1 King Phillip Warriors.
