After what should have been an easy victory, but turned out to be a 1-point loss, the OA football team’s future was questioned. In the loss to Concord-Carlisle, senior running back Nathan Cabral recorded 2 touchdowns on 13 carries for 130 yards. This spectacular performace had its cons as well, as he also fumbled and sprained his AC joint in his shoulder. The injury was not major, he brushed it off and continued to play the rest of the game because the “team was more important”. As a captain, he would not allow the “loss define the rest of the season”, in fact, he made it his mission to motivate everyone, even himself, to “try [their] hardest” every snap.
This past Saturday, OA played Roxbury Prep in a demolishing victory, winning 34-16. This match was one-sided as the Tigers were up 34-0 at the end of the first half. Nathan Cabral had another impressive performance, totaling 3 touchdowns, one of them being a punt return for a touchdown in the first 5 minutes of the game. Nathan Cabral was not shy to give the new coach’s a lot of credit for their first win of the season, explaining they helped to “rebuild the culture”.
Nathan Cabral is this week’s OA Player of the Week. Nathan and the Tigers have their next match up on the 28th of September at 2:00pm against the Attleboro Bombardiers at Attleboro High School.
