In the early days of the spring season, you can take a drive past the Easton town line, into Mansfield, and lay your eyes upon the glory that is Flint Farm.
Flint Farm is a local ice cream stand that opens in mid-april, and attracts many customers throughout the summer season. It is not an ice cream store that offers hundreds of flavors and gets super fancy with their ice cream. They keep it relatively simple. They offer over 50 flavors of ice cream, sherbert, frozen yogurt, and sorbet.
Flint Farm offers cups and cones in sizes kiddie to large, and also sundaes, frappes, floats, freezes, and banana splits. They have options for everyone, and also offer a variety of toppings to make their ice cream that much more delicious.
What attracts many to choose Flint Farm as their favorite ice cream spot is their prices. A small at Flint Farm is around four dollars, give or take a few cents depending on toppings. In a small, customers get two massive scoops of ice cream that practically spill out over the sides of their famous, cow print cups. Compared to another local ice cream store, Daddy’s Dairy or Crescent Ridge, their prices are unbeatable. At Daddy’s Dairy, the cost of an ice cream equivalent to a Flint Farm small starts at five dollars, and only increases with each topping. At Crescent ridge, it’s the same. When their prices start at a price at least a dollar lower than the other competing local stores, Flint Farm takes the (ice cream) cake on this one.
The flavors the little ice cream stand offers are more than just the classic chocolate and vanilla. While they do have the classic flavors, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate, and others, they have unique flavors that attract customers with their names alone. With flavors like totally turtle, Mississippi mud, death by chocolate, and phantom berry, it’s hard to go to Flint Farm and not be intrigued to try something new. Flint Farm also offers options that appeal to dietary restrictions, such as dairy free, fat free, low fat, and no sugar added options, that all cost the same as the regular flavors. Their flavors appeal to adults and kids alike, and there is truly something for everyone at Flint Farm.
The only downfall- the toppings. The toppings are not even bad. The chocolate sprinkles are the thicker sprinkles, while the other local ice cream stores have the long thin ones that make for a better taste and crunch. The other toppings are not listed, so a customer might not know what they have available. They have candies just like the other stores do, but it isn’t advertised to customers.
Another major attraction that draws people to choose Flint Farm as their go-to spot is their sizes and portions. Flint Farm offers sizes kiddie, small, and large. Normally, teenagers and adults may be turned away from the small size because of the childish connotation, but the small size offers two hefty scoops of the ice cream of your choosing. The serving size is enough to keep a teenager full for the rest of the night after their trip to the stand. In combination with the price, the small size is a deal. Daddy’s Dairy and Crescent Ridge offer smaller portions, for higher prices. The other ice cream stores are just not worth it when the ice cream at Flint Farm is better and cheaper.
