AWARD-WINNING OLIVER AMES HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ ENSEMBLE TO PLAY AT THE ORIGINAL EASTON FARMER’S MARKET (OEFM) TOMORROW, MAY 11, FROM 12 TO 2PM; HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE OEFM ARE 10 AM TO 2 PM
The Oliver Ames High School music department is renowned and ranks in the top high school music programs in the U.S. Northeast.
Indeed, groups and musicians and ensembles within the program travel nationally to perform, with one of those trips taking place in 2017 when the award-winning Oliver Ames High School Jazz Ensemble performed in New Orleans.
Tomorrow, May 11, two members of the championship OAHS Jazz Ensemble will play as a duet at the Original Easton Farmer’s Market (OEFM) held inside the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 143 Lincoln Street in North Easton.
Connor Dolan, pianist, and Patrick Lynch, guitarist, will perform from 12 pm to 2 pm.
The Original Easton Farmer’s Market itself runs from 10 am to 2 pm. Sold at the OEFM are foods grown and raised on local farms, and also products and art that have a strong tie to local nature, history, and culture.
Operators of the OEFM encourage all to stop in to listen and enjoy the music, and to shop at patronize the vendors.
Vendors participating in the OEFM on Saturday are Oakdale Farm (produce and preserves), Daddy’s Homegrown (beef and chicken), Rosie Bud Farm (raw honey and raw honey-based soaps, lotions, and candles), All Hands In (personal care products, the profits from the sales of which go to fighting and raising awareness of human trafficking and exploitation), Creative Connections (delicious chocolates), Treats to Meet (fabric gifts), and Monica Lawson Arts (photography and artwork).
Also taking place on Saturday, in the parking lot of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will be Bikes Not Bombs, a nonprofit organization in Jamaica Plain, collecting used bicycles (except tricycles), and bike parts and bike tools. Bikes Not Bombs donates the bikes internationally to economic development projects, and puts other bikes and bike parts to support human service initiatives.
