Last Friday, April 26, Oliver Ames Art 3 and Art 4 students took a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, with their art teachers, Ms. Shea and Mrs. Sapienza Hunt. This is a field trip that is looked forward to by the students for months, as it has a reputation of being a lot of fun!
This year, students started out the day by going to a cafe at the Northeastern University Campus in Boston to grab a quick drink and bite to eat. Preparing to walk around the museum for a few hours, they were handed a scavenger hunt that they would do as a group. Once they arrived to the Museum of Fine Arts, also known as the MFA, they jumped right in!
As one of the Art 4 students who had the lucky opportunity to take part in this field trip for a second year, I can safely say the museum is always changing and there is always something new to see. With this being my fourth time at the museum, I am always impressed by all of the artwork I get to observe in each exhibit, hallway and room.
One of mine, and my peers, favorite exhibits was the first one we got to visit, the “Gender Bending Fashion” exhibit. Within the exhibit was many original and unique outfits made out of various mediums. It was very interesting to see different styles, colors, patterns and textures being used to make many pieces of clothing. If you want to see pictures of the outfits in the exhibit or learn more about it, head over to the MFA website!
One great thing about going to a museum, is that you always get to learn something new! For us, we got to learn more about artists, their pieces, different techniques, various mediums and cultures. I would like to thank Ms. Shea and Mrs. Sapienza Hunt for giving us the chance to once again go on another field trip, that was both fun and educational!
If you want to learn more about our day, be sure to ask the Art 3 and Art 4 students about their favorite exhibit, piece or maybe even something new they learned!
