As I sit down to write this, there are 35 school days left in this year.
35 days left to get popcorn chicken with mashed potatoes and corn for lunch.
35 days left to come into Mr.Schussler’s room and bombard him with my thoughts.
35 days left to complain to Ms. Marro about how bored I am and how I want to get dismissed.
Wow.
It feels like yesterday that I was making it a big deal that we have Senior Field Day. Now it’s about to be the start of fourth term. The last hoorah!
I would like to dedicate this column to the first few people who come to mind when I ask myself, “Who made a difference in my high school career?” So here are my thank you and goodbyes from the bottom of my heart.
- Mrs. Curtin: Thank you for your conversation. Without you, my days would have been so uneventful. I appreciate the time you took to get to know your students past the academic level. You always let me talk about my day and pretty much everything else under the sun. You handled me on my worst and best days better than most teachers could.
- Mr. Schussler: Thank you for your wisdom. You always let me talk your ear off with my crazy problems and in return gave me the best advice. You are so real and down to earth and there are not many teachers who are like you. You care so much for your students and always are attentive to make sure they are heading down the right path. Everyone will remember your guidance years from now.
- Ms. Marro: Thank you for being you. You are so relatable and personable and it makes it so easy to just want to be your best friend. You have so much patience with students and class and you are so on top of everything. You make sure we all know the material so we aren’t having heart attacks the day before a test (even though we usually do anyways). Thank you for knowing the little details about me. It means way more than you think.
All of these special teachers will forever hold a place in my heart and I will end up telling my kids about them. If you were not lucky enough to have any of them as a teacher or friend, I genuinely am sorry and wish you the best in your future.
I will cherish my last 35 days with them.
