About a month and a half ago, Oliver Ames High School artists got news of the results to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional competition. In total, twenty eight pieces of artwork received recognition. Twelve students received honorable mention recognition, five received a silver key for their artwork, and six received a gold key for their artwork. Overall, all of the students were extremely successful and should be proud of their accomplishments!
Another interesting piece of news, is that the results from the gold keys competing in Nationals were released. A huge congratulations goes out to Cam Bourne and Cormac Ganshirt who both places with national silver medals, the Oliver Ames community is proud of your hard work!
Those who had received silver and gold keys in the competition, were invited to attend a key ceremony congratulating them on their accomplishments. Each student walked across the stage and received an early released version of the Boston Globe a day early which included a section on the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and all that placed in the competition. It was a nice afternoon for all who attended.
Ms. Shea tweeted, “Congratulations to this crew on all of their artistic accomplishments with the scholastic art awards this year. Beyond proud of you all! Between them all there are 14 regional gold and silver medals [/keys] and 2 national siller medals!”
At the beginning of the week, all of the students who placed in the competition with honorable mention awards, silver keys and gold keys, all got a letter from the State Representative, Claire D. Cronin. This was a very cool letter to receive congratulating them on their hard work, awards, and accomplishments.
Oliver Ames High School artists beat their record of awards from last year, from twenty seven to now, twenty eight. They all have a bright future ahead of them in the art world, and the community can not wait to see what is in store for them. Who knows, maybe they will beat their record in the competition next year!
