Valentine’s Day is just too overhyped. The only time it was ever fun is when we were all in elementary school and we were all each other’s valentine. That is when things were emotionless and inexpensive. Everyone just got sugar highs and went home to some coloring books.
Now, being grown ups and what not, we actually have to put time and effort into another human being on this ONE special day.
If you know me, you’d never think think that I would be writing some sappy Valentines Day column. That is because I’m not,
For everyone who feels all sad, lonely, and/or left out on Valentine’s Day because you do not have a significant other, dont. It really isn’t that great! I’m honestly jealous.
Don’t get me wrong, I am in a relationship and I would not trade it for the world. But all you single people are saving so much money! I nearly spent my whole paycheck on Valentine’s Day gifts and you are probably thinking, “Well no one told you to do that.” And yes, you are right.
But do you know how much pressure it is to make sure your boyfriend/girlfriend doesn’t give you better gifts than you get him? Maybe not cause you may be single, but let me tell you, it is a lot of pressure.
Personally, I think if you are in a relationship, you should not wait until a holiday – a fake one at that – to get them a special, heartfelt gift. I will honestly be mad if my boyfriend gets me flowers on Valentine’s Day because that is just so cheesy and expected. I should realistically be receiving a bouquet of roses everytime he sees me.
So, good luck to all my single ladies and men out there, but especially to the men in relationships because girls have high expectations for Valentines Day that you will never be able to meet.
