OA Hockey has one of the strongest teams this program has seen in years. They lost a key contributor in Cullen Gallagher, who broke basically every bone in his body. However, with the likes of Max Ward, James Beatty, Speedster Colin Bourne, Big Country Matt McCormack, Freshman Phenom Brian Kearns, and the best player on the ice at all times Brett Williams. The Tigers got a huge boost after Brett came back from playing in the NHL for the first 4 games of the season. They are now looking for a championship and nothing else.
The Tigers started the season strong going 5-1 in the first 6 games. They have slowed down a bit going 6-3-1 in the next 10 but all have been good games against some of the best teams in the league. They want to gain momentum and be hot going into the tournament in hopes of a championship game bid. I believe they can do it as well. Max Ward has been able to make absolute nips against opposing goalies leaving them confused on how they just did not see the puck in the air. Brett can dazzle around his opponents and make them look like they never skated in their life. Matt McCormack absolutely demolishing kids with his big hits and he can never be taken down. Literally calling kids little boys while not actually.
Oliver Ames won a tough game against Mansfield and they were one of the best teams I have ever seen. OA kept playing their best puck, and they could make a deep run in the playoffs and I am excited to see it. If they win the whole thing, they will have to face the Easton Backyard Sports League Pond Hockey All-Star team, and let me tell you, that will be a tough one. All jokes aside, you have to watch this team play, come support them, games are so fun to go to and fan sections have a little more leniency than basketball games, go to their next game to see what I’m talking about.
