Imagine: it is a summer night, and you are with your friends and you go out for ice cream. You get your ice cream and all you can taste is the sweet, creamy goodness. Where are you, you ask? You happen to be at one of the best ice cream shops in Massachusetts, Crescent Ridge.
Crescent Ridge, also called “Cridge” by its customers, happens to be close to my home. Located in Sharon MA just off of Bay Road, Crescent Ridge is a 10 minute drive for most Easton residents. Cridge happens to be open year round, which is good news for all of us. During the winter, their hours are 11 AM to 6 PM, and in the summer their hours are 11 AM to 10 PM.
Cridge is located on a local farm, a setting appealing to its customers. On the farm they have animals such as cows. This tends to attract kids to see the animals and also enjoy their ice cream. The ice cream shop itself tends to be a good size. It has many service windows to help accommodate their customers. Inside the ice cream shop is a small area where toppings, ice cream, and dairy milk are served. All around the farm there are picnic tables available for the customers to sit and enjoy their ice cream.
Cridge is best known for their ice cream, which they happen to have their very own recipe for. The variety of flavors Cridge offers is striking. They offer simple flavors like Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry. Other unique and delicious flavours that Cridge offers include Ginger, Mississippi Mud, and Orange Pineapple. Their variety of flavors is what attracts customers to come back and try more.
Can’t have regular, full fat ice cream? No problem! Cridge offers all sorts of other products for their customers to enjoy. Low fat/ Low sugar ice cream is offered, but only comes in the flavors Coffee, Vanilla and Raspberry Swirl. They provide low fat frozen yogurt in five flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Pecan Chip, Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, and Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. Frappes are offered in any flavor you choose and they are blended which their very own milk. Sherberts and non dairy sherberts are served including flavors such as Orange, Lemon, Watermelon, Lemon, Mango, and Rasberry. Just like any other ice cream place, ice cream sundaes are available in five flavors: hot fudge, strawberry, peanut butter, pineapple and hot butterscotch.
Cridge offers their very own products such as Cressies and dairy milk. Cressies are basically a milkshake. The only difference is that Cridge uses their very own dairy milk in their milkshake, therefore making their own “Cressie.” One thing most of Cridges customers do not know is that before they sold ice cream, they sold milk. Each day delivery trucks would make their rounds and bring milk to their customers. Cridge sells this milk and uses it make all their products, which could be the key to why all their products taste delicious.
One advantage Cridge has over its competitors is its ice cream sizes. Their products come in sizes starting with the smallest, tiny tot, kiddie, small, and large. Their prices are very high as the smallest size of a tiny tot is priced at $3.25. But the amount of ice cream served to the customer makes up for it. In each serving, they give a large amount of ice cream, making the product worth their cost. A competitor such as Flint Farm in Mansfield MA, has cheaper prices for the same amount of ice cream. Although, the quality of the ice cream tends to be no match to Cridge.
As Cridge is a very popular ice cream shop, it comes with its drawbacks. The lines to get a treat are extremely long and the rate at which they move can vary. Although the workers move at a fast pace, the lines triumph and often extend into the parking lot. Some people can wait up to fifteen to twenty minutes to get ice cream. Nevertheless, the serving sizes and sweet taste makes it worth the wait.
Cridge wants to share their delicious treats with others outside the original location, so customers can also find their ice cream for purchase in local grocery stores. In addition, Cridge has an ice cream market that is located in Boston, making it easier for people around Massachusetts to enjoy their sweet treats. Whether you plan on taking a trip to Cridge or not, you will not be dissapointed as it is one of Massachusetts best ice cream shops.
