Oliver Ames boys basketball is back and their first game is tonight at 6:30. They open up with Stoughton in the tiger pit, and it should be packed to the maximum. It will be a test to see how the team deals with losing seniors Jack Spillane, Matt Muir, and Noah Fitzgerald (among others).
Captain Ethan Eckstrom is “not worried,” as he believes they will be even stronger this year.
Both Sean and Ethan pride their team chemistry as nobody is selfish with the ball. Their roster is deep and everyone is able to participate at a varsity level. Sean O’brien and Ethan Eckstrom are holding down the position of captain, and also starters. This will be Ethan’s second year starting on Varsity and will contribute in every sense, from scoring to rebounding. Sean, the sixth man last year, will continue to score and lock down his opponent. Harry DeChellis will make his return after suffering a torn ACL last year. He will once again prove he should be a starter. Jake Erlich will be making a return to his starting spot, muscling his way to the hoop.
Everyone will be expected to contribute valuable minutes. Oliver Ames also has underclassmen that have proven their skills and are ready to compete. Jay Spillane, a junior, will surpass his brother’s abilities and help bring OA to victory. Coach Byron is healthy and excited for the season, lighting a fire in the team. Make sure to come support the team and pack the Tigah Pit where there will be booing, there will be barking, and there will be a section.
