The OA Homework Club was started by Seniors Jacob Nesson and Kaleigh Walsh which provides underclassmen with a chance to receive help on anything they are struggling with. This can be help with homework, studying for a quiz, or even proofreading essays or labs.
“I’m excited to help kids who need it,” said Jackson Stanley, the Co-Department Director of the History section, “I have always been eager to help kids who are struggling with it (history), and I’m so glad to see that OA has a new club to make that happen more effectively.”
It is led by a group of enthusiastic Seniors who want the underclassmen to succeed and who are willing to answer any questions the students have, whether it be about academics or just high school in general.
Mrs. Hadge, the club advisor for the Homework Club explained how excited she was about it.
”The best thing about it is that it’s giving the seniors a chance to build relationships with underclassmen and also reciprocally allows the freshmen to seek help from approachable seniors.”
Isabel Refford, Co-Department Director of the English section of the club said, “I’m really looking forward to creating bonds with the underclassmen and help them navigate throughout their stressful first couple years at Oliver Ames. I think this club can offer them a safe and friendly space to ask questions about course material, specific homework problems, and high school life in general.”
Along with Isabel and Jackson, the rest of the Seniors in the club are eager to help as much as they can and create a closer bond in the OA community!
The OA Homework Club is having their first session Thursday in room 224 Starting the 97th of September 2018. Candy will be provided!
