A New Year equals a new Wood Report, and now I am officially the Sports Editor so the Wood Report will be in hints of every new sports piece for the new year. Let’s start off the year strong with a claim no one will believe…
OA Football is back.
Now, I know you are saying, “Garrett, you guys lost”, “Garrett, you do not have Berk”, “Garre..”, and guess what? I do not care. I do not. I really could not give any less care. I was never really allowed to do a story on my team last year, but I am making this so people know.
People need to know that this is a different team. However, let me talk about Anthony Berksza. What a beast. Second in the league in Touchdowns and basically too many yards to count, losing him was a big hit. A captain, a leader. I played with him for my whole Football career, it hurts not having him. In Football, you face adversity, and before the season even started, the worst happened. We did not give up.
Nathan Cabral knew he had a challenge and boy did he take it. Rushing and Receiving a touchdown last Friday on a lot of yards as well. Cam Perron, took over the starting job last year, and threw gem after gem. We took the foot off the gas and that is why we lost. OA Football is a great team. We were also one call away from being winners of that game. This team is different. In years past, OA Football just took it, not this year, we fought until the very very last play.
You might not get it. A lot of people have this joke that OA football will never be near the 2012/2013 teams. With that I say, maybe. However, this team is good and better than last year. We have a better O-Line, Better receivers, and more confidence. I am telling you, be there this Friday night September 14th, and watch the Tigers win Khed.
