Here we go. Senior year. The moment we have all been waiting for as we stand together as the class of 2019 here at Oliver Ames.
We have seen each other at our worst times and our best times. Some of us even know each other since we were in diapers. All the years that we thought we could hold onto forever and a day, are now slowly but surely coming to an end this year.
However, I don’t really see the big whoop. Is that weird?
I mean seriously. Right here right now as I write this, I am doing the same thing as I was last year, except now I’m a senior and not a junior. Right here right now you could also probably take the sweat off my body and fill the Grand Canyon up. Again, just like last year.
I promise I am not a total pessimist. I am nearly jumping out of my skin to get out of this building because I am just sick of the “same old same old”. But I just do not see the complete and total hype of it all.
I will literally be talking to someone and they’re like yelling, “THIS IS OUR LAST TIME EATING LUNCH IN THIS SAME SPOT ON OUR FIRST DAY 3.” Or, “THIS IS OUR LAST TIME WALKING THROUGH THESE ATRIUM DOORS!”
Those people need to take it down 7 notches on the ladder of stress. I understand the hype and the excitement MORE THAN ANYONE. But do you really need to be counting down the seconds until you leave the high school? Do you absolutely need to narrate every action you do and then proceed to weirdly brag and say, “….FOR THE LAST TIME” after doing something so simple?
In case you were curious, the answer is no, you do not.
Senior year. Is it worth the hype?
I do not think so, at least not yet.
