In the election which occurred on May 4th, 2018, a historical precedent for Oliver Ames Governor election was set. Not only did the election between Jack Mills and Kayla Dalton end in favor of Ms. Dalton, but it also was the largest landslide in Oliver Ames High School Governor election history. In total, Kayla Dalton received 71 percent of the total vote.
Kayla Dalton reflected on how the election shaped the way she thought about politics as pertaining to Oliver Ames High School.
“I think the election was an amazing experience and I am so thankful to everyone who supported me during the process. I learned a lot about what it takes to run a campaign and work as part of a team. Everyone had so many ideas and I loved being able to listen to them and put them into action.”
Both Ms. Dalton and Mr. Mills are seniors at Oliver Ames and participated in the election as part of a class which the school offers. However for this special election with a very special outcome, Kayla Dalton has a lot to celebrate.
